The Last Trip

Teton County.

The morning sun makes its way into my morning. Spring nears. A beautiful pink reflection from the gray bark. How does nature do this? It takes me back to a walk across the Bar BC in Wyoming. I know that later in the day, in a different light, the pink shades disappear. My mind goes back to another time, a different day.

The walk across the Bar BC etched in my mind. It has now been a couple of autumns ago. That afternoon, in all their majesty, the Tetons were their majestic selves. It was the light on the Aspen trees that stole the show. Maybe, it was the bluest skies I can remember. Maybe it is where my mind was that day.

Then today. What opens me up to the beauty of a day on the rise? What opens me to the mystery of nature?

There are some questions that I have since stopped asking. I find something spiritual in nature. Hiking, fishing, and skiing to name a few. I am finding the source of the spiritual is a great Joy, deciding how to direct it a great responsibility.

That we (I) close off, “Jam up”, spillover, and dry up are all part of being human in the gravity of time. That I feel compelled to stop and ask the guy sacking my groceries how he is doing, and help a stranger move the heavy thing out of the way is an impulse known as Love.

That is what I see at daybreak. The old sage said, “You will know when it is daybreak by looking into another’s eyes and seeing your reflection."

The world today has a lot of distractions. Let’s keep the focus on what we can do to make it a better place. Let’s look out the window and watch spring come again. There are no guarantees how many more we will see.

The market, better in the short run. Bumpy over the summer. Time to go fishing.

Enjoy the day…R2
